According to a story in the Daily Telegraph by Racing Editor Ray Thomas, Dynamic Syndications brilliant mare I AM ME has burst onto the radar of The Everest slot-holders after blitzing her rivals at Royal Randwick last Saturday.
I AM ME scored her third win in as many starts this preparation – and improved her overall race record to six wins from 11 starts – when she blazed home in 1m 7.77s for the 1200m course under hands and heels and never under pressure.
There was a strong tailwind from the top of the straight, but I AM ME still recorded one of the fastest 1200m times ever run at Randwick. The track record is 1m 7.32s set by Yes Yes Yes in the 2019 The Everest.
I AM ME, who provided Dean Watt's Dynamic Syndications with their 800th race win, was so impressive TAB Fixed Odds price assessors slashed her odds from $101 to $34 for The Everest next October behind current $8 equal favourites Giga Kick, In Secret and Nature Strip.
A picture says a thousand words!
Watt revealed he was contacted by two Everest slot-holders on Saturday night following I AM ME’s stunning win.
"I took a couple of phone calls from slot-holders who wanted to find out what our plans are for I AM ME,'' Watt said.
"It's exciting to think this mare is in the mix for The Everest but there is a lot of water to flow under the bridge yet.''
Watt said I AM ME had pulled up well after her dominant Randwick win and is likely to chase her first stakes win in the Listed $160,000 Canterbury Sprint (1200m) at Canterbury on New Year's Day.
"We have always had the Canterbury Sprint in mind for her, but everything is on the table,'' Watt said.
"There are Group 1 sprints in New Zealand next month that we are having a look at, but I know Ciaron is keen to set her for the Oakleigh Plate in February. It is a cliché, but we will let the mare ‘do the talking' for us.''
