Congratulations to our Newcastle based trainer JASON DEAMER and his terrific team for presenting our
Dynamic mare ZOU DE MOON to the races in such
magnificent order on Wednesday afternoon.
Also, a big thanks to our jet pilot Tim Clark as he was able to
wave his wand to produce a magical ride, assisting
ZOU DE MOON to hold off all challengers with
a gutsy WIN in Race 4 at Warwick Farm
For once in a long time, the
rain gods allowed us a break in the weather, and
ZOU DE MOON found her preferred Soft 5 Surface, giving her the
confidence to grind her peers into the ground to claim Race 4, the TAB Handicap, a Benchmark 72 over 1600m.
ZOU DE MOON Winning at Warwick Farm 31-8-22
Tactically it was our desire to lead and stack them, and then from the 600m put the acid test to her peers in a “catch me if you can approach.”
As the gates crashed back, Tim Clark was able to easily roll forward after the first 100m to lead the field out however connections of Atlantic King had the idea to commit the equivalent of
racing suicide, by dashing forward at a fast tempo lumping 60.0kgs for Sam Clipperton.
Tim Clark is a great front running rider, and the
silly early tempo being injected into the race, Tim just grabbed hold of
ZOU DE MOON and let Atlantic King dash a couple of lengths to the lead, and then got
ZOU DE MOON into a beautiful rhythm tracking the leader with cover, from the 1200m to the 600m.
The leader was getting a stitch at the 550m and Tim moved up to eyeball the leader as those that were chasing were off the bit.
Unfortunately for
ZOU DE MOON, Atlantic King
burst like a pricked balloon, and that left
ZOU DE MOON (58.5kgs) in front a long way from home, having done the early chasing. She was now a
sitting duck for the swoopers.
ZOU DE MOON - too tough
Tim asked our mare to extend at the 350m and she showed a tremendous “will to win” fighting and straining every sinew in her athletic frame, to display enormous courage as she was under siege from four other male runners, but fought them off 5yo gelding JUST A JEDI (58.5kgs) by 0.42 length, with top-weight 6yo gelding MORETHANNUMBERONE (61.0kgs) a further 0.28 length away in third spot, ahead of heavily backed favourite REDWOOD SHADOW (57.0kgs) back in fourth spot.
ZOU DE MOON did it the hard way by being forward but not leading, and was not well weighted against the boys, but an excellent judged ride by Tim Clark and a mare enjoying her racing and approaching her peak fitness for the campaign, the
Dynamic Duo were
simply too tough, too good.
ZOU DE MOON deserved this city win on her resume, and third up from a spell this time in, she had put the writing on the wall with a
tremendous first up win in the Maclean Cup 1400m and then things didn’t go to plan second up at
Eagle Farm when finishing 3rd of 11 over 1500m which was by then, too short.
Here at Warwick Farm, she found a nice race on a drier track, and despite the heavy weight for a mare against the boys,
she was too courageous.
Jason Deamer does a great job with Dynamic Syndications horses, especially when considering he only has 17 boxes at Newcastle, however Jason prefers the smaller numbers because he likes to ride his own trackwork and take a hands-on approach to his training which suits a high majority of our horses.
ZOU DE MOON now has a resume of 13 starts: 5 Wins, 2 Seconds, 1 Third, 1 Fourth & $124,995.
She has won over 1100, 1280m 1400m (2) and 1600m.
Post-race Sky’s Richard Haynse said: “She’s doing a really good job for the Dynamic Syndications ownership group, a big group of owners, good luck to them, congratulations and Number 6 the winner ZOU DE MOON.”
TAB’s Brad Gray added: “She is an unassuming style of mare. She’s building a fantastic little record 5 wins from 13 starts, you can’t do much more than that. I don’t think Tim Clark would have banked on Atlantic King going so keenly in the early stages, but he just took a trail, pulled her out at the top of the straight, turned it into a grind home, and they were coming from absolutely everywhere to take her on that last 100m, but she pulled out plenty. Tough win well set up today, third up out to the mile, and she certainly deserved that win. She’s returned in really good order. She was too tough, too strong, and a really good winner there ZOU DE MOON.
Richard Haynse then interviewed our trainer JASON DEAMER: “Well done Jason, she’s a ripper this girl.”
JASON DEAMER - Newcastle trainer
Jason replied: “Yeah she’s been very consistent her whole career, and she’s been knocking on the door for a city win now for a while, and this time in she’s returned that bit stronger again. She’s a great eater at home, and a great group of owners, all put together by Dynamic Syndications, they give me a lot of support, and it’s a big team effort. Even though I’ve only got small stables, it’s a team effort from my team at home at the stables, and Adam and his Team, his mum and dad, and Peter, everyone there (Dynamic Syndications), we all get on really well, and its just great to get a good win there, a city win together.
Richard Haynse then commented: “She was poised turning for home, but she had to try hard all the way down the straight, because they were there to get her.”
Jason answered: “Yeah, that’s right. I watched the race with Adam, and to see she was going to be the winner, but she just couldn’t kick away, but she’s very tough and just kept grinding and kept her head out in front and it was a good strong win in the end.”
Richard Haynse then said to Jason: “You had a throw at the Belle of the Turf, a throw at the stumps last prep, where does she sit with you guys now this girl?”
Jason responded: “We have mainly been trying to get this city win for her and all her owners, so now she can raise the bar a bit, and look at getting into a sneaky Listed Race with a light weight and see how we go.”
Chantelle Buckley then interviewed our jockey saying: “Tim that was a nice win, they were coming from left, right and centre, but she was able to tough it out.”
Jet Pilot TIM CLARK
Tim responded: “Yeah that’s right, she was there to be beaten late, but she’s come back in really good order. That’s two out of her first three are wins now, and her latest run was very good, so she had the right form leading into this race, that was a beautiful race for her, and that panned out really well, I just tracked the leader, put the pressure on just before the turn, and as I said, she was there to be beaten late but she toughed it out well.”
Chantelle than asked Tim: “Did you expect Sam (Clipperton on Atlantic King) to lead?”
Tim said: “I wasn’t sure, obviously when that horse won here a couple ago with Nash, he went quite quick, but it actually gave me a nice “bunny” to get in behind with cover, and tracked up really well, so yeah, she’s’ a good tough mare.”
Purchased at the Magic Millions from leading Hunter Valley thoroughbred nursery NEWGATE FARM, ZOU DE MOON was bred by Newgate in partnership S F Bloodstock LLC, Blake Sandblom Pty Ltd, Winstar Farm LLC, NSW.
ZOU DE MOON as a yearling
Team Dynamic loved the yearling filly, as did the Newgate team and we were delighted when her breeders continued their support buying into the filly to race her with us.
She is bred to be good, being a daughter of ZOUSTAR from Group 1 placed MOON DE FRENCH who had run third over 1700m in the USA behind the sensational mare of that time – ZENYATTA.
MOON DE FRENCH
ZOU DE MOON despite her excellent record was missing a vital piece off her resume until now – a city win. Now this sprinter / miler mare has achieved this her desirability as a broodmare is established as she is a Winner at Warwick Farm, Runner up at Canterbury and Third at Eagle Farm and has smashed through the $100,000 glass ceiling.
