Two stars of the track being Dual Gr1-winning mare Anabandana and Gr2 Salinger Stakes-winning mare Sister Madly have been retired from racing.
New Zealand's 2011 Champion 2YO Anabandana ran her last race in the Gr3 Bobbie Lewis Stakes at Flemington last weekend.
Anabandana will be retired to Stud
She "will begin her career in the breeding shed this season where she will be covered by Fastnet Rock" according to nztm.co.nz.
She was a winner of 5 races all at stakes level including the Gr1 Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes, Gr1 Auckland Diamond Stakes, Gr2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes, Gr3 Eclipse Stakes & Gr3 Gold Trail Stakes.
She finished with earnings of $401,044 from her 13 starts.
Meanwhile it has also been announced that Gr2 Salinger Stakes-winning mare Sister Madly has been retired "just two weeks before her return to racing".
Sister madly will now begin her stud duties
The Redoute’s Choice mare was forced into retirement following a recurring injury which flared up again after track work yesterday.
Her trainer said "It's very disappointing for all concerned… She was just about ready to go and had been going really well but it is a recurrence of an old injury so we have decided to retire her… A couple of little things have popped up again so the recommendation was to send her off to stud."
As well as winning the Gr2 Salinger Stakes, Sister Madly finished runner-up in both the Gr1 Flight Stakes and the Gr1 Manikato Stakes.
She finished with earnings of $680,180 from 17 starts and it is yet to be decided who she will be covered by in the upcoming breeding season.
