Royally bred
juvenile filly Verstappen made the
perfect start to her racing career when the daughter of
Savabeel came from well-back and wide to win on debut over 1200m at Avondale in NZ on Monday.
2yo Filly VERSTAPPEN Wins on debut (Orange colours)
The
Savabeel filly showed plenty of determination in the home straight to reel-in race favourite Funny Girl in the closing 100m, after being second last in the eleven-horse field with just 600m to run.
Rider Sam Spratt didn’t panic and tracked Funny Girl into the race before out finishing her peer, to win by half a length, with another debutant in Chanel finishing third.
A $480,000 purchase from the Jamieson Park draft at Karaka in 2020,
Verstappen has been given plenty of time to develop before making her first raceday appearance.
“She has always shown us a lot, but she is a big filly who just needed time to mature,” Co-Trainer Dawn Williams said.
“We don’t rush our babies as they will tell you what they will do, so we have brought her along slowly with an eye to her having one or two starts before we tip her out for a spell.
“She has got an amazing attitude. Nothing worries her and she is just so tough.
“She didn’t seem to be bothered when she was back early in the race and she finished off very nicely when she found a clear path.”
Williams also paid tribute to her owners who have enjoyed plenty of success with the stable including with Gr.1 New Zealand One Thousand Guineas (1600m) winner Media Sensation.
“We will have a chat with them after this and see what we do next, but I think it might be a good time to put her aside and think about next season.
“We will play it by ear a bit, but I do think she is a candidate for some of those better three-year-old races.”
Verstappen is the second foal from
Fastnet Rock mare Beachley, who is a daughter of Group 2 winner
Dances On Waves. Included in her extended family is multiple Group 1 winner
Preferment.
It’s very interesting to observe the win by
Verstappen on debut, with how much trouble she was in throughout the race.
She was back and then was stuck 3 deep and overacing. Then tracked up deep throughout. A lesser 2yo would have given up, however this filly certainly has shown she will win far better races than today’s debut scamper.
This is yet another racetrack success story for the latest
boom CROSS for champion sire
SAVABEEL – the cross with Mares by FASTNET ROCK.
This
freakishly good mating may be stronger than the two well publicised crosses which work so well, that of mares by
O’REILLY and PINS.
SAVABEEL - Champion Sire
Now FASTNET ROCK is making every post a winner.
Verstappen became the
7th progeny of
SAVABEEL out of FASTNET ROCK Broodmares to have raced, recording
6 Winners and 1 Placed including 2 Stakes Winners.
The first foal bred on the cross was the placegetter and since then, its been
6 runners = 6 winners along with the
two Stakes Winners.
Therefore, the
statistics are highlighting that this is now becoming the
“go-too” cross for the champion sire.
Dynamic Syndications having such an
intimate knowledge about
Savabeel, as
both a racehorse and a sire, were aware of just how terrific this cross had been performing when we unearthed a
cracking colt by the sire from the
Fastnet Rock mare PASSION CHEVAL at the
Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale.
Our Colt by SAVABEEL x PASSION CHEVAL (by Flying Spur)
Our Colt
Offered by
Yulong Stud, when he was passed by
our veterinarian Dr Tim Roberts as his
Sale Catalogue Highest Rating Score and the physical inspection passed the colt as
“sound of wind and limb” and then, his
X-Rays were clean and he possessed a Grade 1 Scope, it became a
“no brainer” to buy him if we could, and we did.
The follow on is better still. This colt has since been
broken-in by expert Australian Olympic Equestrian Team Member SHANE ROSE.
SHANE breaks-in and educates all Dynamic Syndications horses.
ADAM WATT & SHANE ROSE
For Full Transparency and Disclosure:
We confirm that
SHANE ROSE rated this colt so
highly, that
Shane has also purchased a share in the colt to race him with our Dynamic Owners.
This is the
first time Shane has ever purchased a share in any yearling he has broken-in for
Team Dynamic.
We can only conclude that if one of
Australia’s best-known horsemen wants to be an
owner in a horse he has just
broken-in, then that is a good enough
endorsement for us here at
Team Dynamic.
Now only a handful of
5% Shares remain at
$8,150 inc GST and ALL COSTS to 1 September 21.
He is a tremendous looking equine athlete, with the right genetics and he floats across the ground well enough to have our educator buy a share.
Don’t Miss Out here – The “mail” is good, and facts are facts.
As the saying goes ….. “Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics.”
The Sire is the Champion Sire for the past 6 seasons in NZ and leads the way again this season.
Savabeel is the “Best Sire” in the Southern Hemisphere for producing Stakes Horses to runners.
Our Colt is bred on a sensational cross that is genetically amazing and we have a colt with the looks to match the hype.
With Shane Rose giving the colt such a huge endorsement by purchasing into his ownership, then our question is simple - Can you afford not too?
