Big Thanks to the
Sydney Morning Herald’s Award Winning Racing Writer and all round "good bloke" CHRIS ROOTS for a nice
“feel-good” story he kindly wrote in Friday’s paper about
Team Dynamic and our two runners on Day 1 of THE CHAMPIONSHIPS at Royal Randwick being HIGH SUPREMACY in the CARBINE CLUB Gr3 (Race 2) and YAO DASH in the DONCASTER Gr1 (Race 9).

WATERHOUSE'S WISE GUIDANCE SETS WATT ON PATH TO DONCASTER DREAM

Dynamic Syndications principal Dean Watt is famous for his
“won it” advertisements but he will be out to break new ground in races he calls dreams at Randwick on Saturday.
While he has one of the leading Doncaster hopes in
Yao Dash, for Watt the Carbine Club Stakes hold great sentimental value and he has targeted it with
High Supremacy.
“I’m a Carbine Club member and to win that race would be like a Group 1 for me,” Watt said. “Max Whitby is in High Supremacy and he is a Carbine Club member as well, and he is having a few health battles at the moment, so it would be great to win it for him.
“It doesn’t take anything away from being in the Doncaster; that would be a dream. But it has been a long-held ambition to win this race, and when High Supremacy came back into work I told Richard and Michael [Freedman] about it.
“They put together a program to have him here at his top, and Richard said the way he has worked this week he is very confident it is there.”
Watt loves a plan with his good horses, and Yao Dash is another that has ticked all the boxes to get to the Doncaster, but he has to thank Gai Waterhouse’s vision with the four-year-old for him being at Randwick on the opening day of The Championships.
Craig Williams returns on YAO DASH
Watt declared Yao Dash “perhaps the best horse I have owned” after won his first two starts, but a 15-month losing drought followed before returning to winners circle during the Magic Millions. But it didn’t convince Watt he was ready for one of Australian racing’s jewels.
After Yao Dash was a fourth to Eleven Eleven in the Magic Millions, Watt was thinking of spelling him and returning to Brisbane in the winter.
“I said he could the best horse I have had after he beat Funstar as a three-year-old, and we are seeing that now,” Watt said. “I thought at the Gold Coast he’s back, and the Stradbroke would be a great race for him.
“We sat down with Gai and she was convinced he would be a Doncaster horse and told us he would win the Prelude back then to get in.
“She said, ‘I have won seven of these and he is just the right sort of horse for the Doncaster – tough and strong and will get no weight’. When Gai tells you that, you’re going to the Doncaster.”
Yao Dash has started to live up to the potential that he showed as a three-year-old with another two wins and will look for a hat-trick in the Doncaster, where he will only have to carry 50.5kg.
“We have had a bit of luck with Michael Dee before and he can ride the weight. We have got the right draw but would prefer a firmer track,” Watt said.
“He was very strong at the end of the 1500m last week and we think he will be the same at the end of the Randwick mile.
“He has bounced off that run in the Prelude, which is a great sign he is at his best.”
