It was certainly

comeback
jockey
Nash Rawiller
rode his first winner back for his long-term supporters
trainer Gai Waterhouse and Adam and Dean Watt of Dynamic Syndications
when he saluted aboard the perfectly named
ESCAPED
which created
emotional scenes
at Kembla Grange.
ESCAPED - driven to victory by Nash over stablemate You Rang
Nash had to pull out all his expertise as a horseman to drive Escaped to victory in the shadows of the post.
Determination - Nash grits his teeth as he powers ESCAPED to the line
Escaped was the
first winner in Australia
since August 2015 for the 59-time Group 1 winning jockey.
Nash back in the winner's circle
However Nash and Team Dynamic weren’t finished there, as they
combined again
in Race 7 to score a
DYNAMIC DOUBLE
with an effortless win with
DECROUX
for gun

Jason Deamer.

Adam & Dean Watt with Nash Rawiller at Kembla after their winning double
The Kembla Grange meeting was always earmarked for Nash Rawiller's return since incurring a 15-month ban while based in Hong Kong.
It's been widely reported Nash was about to board a flight to leave Hong Kong for Australia in April 2018, when he was detained by Hong Kong’s Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) without explanation. His passport was confiscated and he spent the next five months stuck in Hong Kong, unable to travel and unable to work before being released
WITHOUT CHARGE
.
The ICAC investigation found
NO EVIDENCE
that Rawiller had ridden any horse with the intention other than to obtain the
best possible
placing and that the jockey only tipped horses ridden by him.
At Kembla meeting the Dynamic Team ensured we had three good chances for Nash to ride on the programme and we walked away winning two whilst the third runner Aloneinabaa had genuine excuses as it pulled up lame.
Nash’s wife
Sarah
couldn’t hide her emotions and burst into tears as Nash won aboard the
perfectly named ESCAPED
.
Sarah was standing alongside Nash’s mum Elaine and Dean and Adam Watt from Dynamic Syndications who are long-time supporters of Nash and Sarah.
“I’m beside myself,”
Sarah said.
“
It’s been a long journey but I suppose experiences like what we’ve been through makes you a better person.
“Everyone has highs and lows in life and we had some low times over the past year and a bit.
“That was just an amazing thrill to see him out there doing it again.
“We love Sydney and the racing fraternity everywhere have been amazing how they’ve rallied around us.
“The amount of support and love that’s we’ve been shown is truly humbling.”
When Nash returned to the Winners Stall he was met by a large and excited group of Family, Friends and Dynamic Owners along with a media pack all there to celebrate the success.
Sarah gives Nash a congratulations kiss
Nash was interviewed post-race and said:
“It’s a good feeling, I feel really good,
“He’s a lovely horse but he’s just not there yet but neither am I.
“I’ve ticked another box off today.
“It’s special to have mum and Sarah here. I had about 100 close friends text me this morning. The support has been amazing.
“It’s great to ride my first winner back for Dynamic.
“There’s been a lot of people behind the scenes that have been there when we needed them and that winner is for them.
“Family and friends mean so much.”
Talking about his stressful Hong Kong experience Nash said:
"They investigated me for the next five months and I was held there with my passport taken off me and just had to let it play out.
"I knew what I had done and knew I probably shouldn't have been in the position I was in but it had to go through the process.
"I kept confident the whole way through that everything would be OK.
"They were still very trying times obviously.
"It was the unknown of not really knowing of where it would all end up.
"I think the positives out of all of it are my family has never been as close.
"I've never had as much respect for my best friends and mates and close family friends and it's probably made me a better person."
After a successful career in Victoria, Rawiller moved to Sydney in 2007 as stable rider for Waterhouse's Tulloch Lodge.
The 44-year-old won three Sydney jockeys' titles before going to Hong Kong in 2014.
A three-time Sydney premiership winner, Nash Rawiller has won Group One races in Australia, New Zealand, Dubai and Hong Kong.
Dynamic Syndications enjoyed good success with Nash riding for us
, prior to his decision to head to Hong Kong to try his luck.
Nash aboard ATOMIC FORCE winning the NZ Railway Gr1 Win
Amongst that success was a Dynamic win in the Gr1 NZ Railway Hcp where he piloted
ATOMIC FORCE
.
After originally deciding to resume his career in Victoria where his extended family live, and son Campbell has been accepted to the Victorian Apprentices Academy and daughter Caitlin is studying Landscape Architecture, Nash and Sarah decided to make Sydney home base after spending the past few weeks riding trackwork and trials in NSW.
Nash told Sky Sports Radio,
"
I did plan to base myself in Melbourne. I've had the luxury of living down there for the last eight months.
However Nash linked up again with Gai and Adrian riding trackwork and trials where Dynamic Syndications have a lot of horses in work and trailing.
"I came up here and started riding work. The response I've had since I've been here has been unbelievable - from owners I've ridden for over the years.
Nash says he is as fit as he can be and walking around at 57kg.
"I'm not putting too much pressure on myself early,
"The first week was really tough but since then, I've been working hard and riding trackwork and trials as much as I can. I've come a long way."
Congratulations Nash !
Onward and Upwards !
