At
Scone on Sunday, racing fans saw a
“knock ‘em down, drag ‘em out, old fashioned brawl” in a race which proved to be
survival of the fittest, as our
Jason Deamer trained JAZIRAT (4yo m Shooting To Win x Alzira) ridden to perfection by
Alysha Collett, proved
too tough in Race 1 on the programme, the Pages Event Hire
Benchmark 58, over 2200m on a Heavy 8 surface.
JAZIRAT proves too tough at the end of 2200m at Scone
JAZIRAT had been accepted for an event at Taree on Friday but having done the ratings and speed maps to both events,
Team Dynamic chose to scratch from Friday and race on Sunday in what proved to be a wise decision, as our terrific team of Owners that race JAZIRAT added another photo to their walls, taking it to 3 Wins to date for their mare.
This win at Scone was worth $17,905 to the owners being $12,280 to the Winner plus a BOBS Extra Bonus of $5,625, which again highlights the extraordinary levels of prizemoney on offer for owners in NSW.
JAZIRAT was purchased by Dean Watt Bloodstock for Dynamic Syndications from a
Godolphin dispersal when she was a
4 start Maiden with just the one runner-up placing to her career.
JAZIRAT when Dean Watt Bloodstock purchased her for Dynamic Syndications
For Team Dynamic, JAZIRAT has now started 11 times for 3 Wins and 2 Seconds and banked $49,580 to date. She has won at 1500m, 1615m and 2200m.
Importantly, her
3 Wins have each been on a
Heavy track so having a mare that can run a trip in the middle of a wet winter is an advantage.
JAZIRAT now has a race career record of 15 Starts: 3 Wins, 3 Seconds and $57,780.
Originally after acceptances it was a field of 7 runners however 2 scratchings reduced the field to just
5 runners, so it became a
battle of tactics as much as
attrition.
Tactically, we believed that there was
one leader in the race being Telfer who had to carry 61.5kgs giving us
3.5kgs whilst the race favourite being Past Tense would get back in the field and must give away a
big head start plus
2.5kgs in weight, on a Heavy track.
So, in a
tactical battle, our plan was simple,
roll forward from the time the gates crash back. We expect Telfer to lead the fence, so sit at its girth and annoy it, making it work and feel its weight, stalking it to the 600m and then turn the race into a true staying event by winding up and whacking away.
When Alysha Collett came out to receive instructions before mounting,
Alysha had done he homework and had the exact same ideas.
A resulting
eleven out of ten ride by Alysha and a
tough effort by a well-tuned galloper presented in excellent order by Jason Deamer aligned to give
our owners another Win.
As the small field jumped away, Alysha rolled forward from out wide and crossed over to be sitting beside Telfer as the field passed the winning post on the first occasion. Then as they started to swing out of the straight Alysha allowed
JAZIRAT to settle into a rhythm and sit just on one length behind Telfer to its outside, so she was not getting too much kickback from the leader, with the next pair of Promesa and Mexican Standoff racing as a pair two lengths behind
JAZIRAT, with the favourite Past Tense in fifth position, a further two lengths behind that pair, about 6 lengths from the lead.
As the field swung into the back straight, the field remained steadfast in position. Then as they passed the 1000m mark, Promesa began to yield not coping with the heavy conditions, but the others remained in their places.
Then at the 800m Telfer started to lift the tempo but Alysha on
JAZIRAT was aware of that and pushed up to maintain position, this put another length gap between her and Past Tense who was starting to make ground but was four lengths off the lead and three lengths off
JAZIRAT.
There was no change in order or position as the field begun their swing for the long 420m run home at Scone. Just as they started to enter the straight Alysha gave
JAZIRAT some rein and slipped up to eyeball Telfer at the 400m. Alysha riding strongly under hands and heels, keeping
JAZIRAT balanced an on the bit, and our mare respond placing Telfer under pressure and hard riding but it was struggling to match the power and pull in the weights that
JAZIRAT was displaying. The favourite Past Tense still 3 lengths away and unable to make any impression as they passed the 200m.
JAZIRAT at the 200m
Telfer kept trying hard, grinding away, but at the 150m
JAZIRAT gained control and Telfer yielded one length to
JAZIRAT whilst Past Tense who had a 1.0kg pull on Telfer, started to pick up that runner.
At the 100m, Alysha gave
JAZIRAT a few reminders to just keep our mare focused as she was running on empty, but our mare responded with determination so Alysha was able to revert to hands and heels over the final 50m coasting to the post, whilst there remained a fierce battle behind for second place, where Telfer under significant pressure, finished 0.72 length behind
JAZIRAT holding on to that runner-up position to outlast Past Tense who was also under massive pressure to finish 0.89 length behind
JAZIRAT.
JAZIRAT and Alysha Collett in control
Alysha Collett said, “in the small field she was able to allow her to cross over and sit outside the leader the whole way, and really dictated tempo through the whole race and dominate from the front and she (JAZIRAT) was really brave today, she really hit the front at the 150m, and the wind was against her and she wasn’t enjoying it, and she really deserved that win well and truly.”

Adam and Dean Watt - Dynamic Syndications
This was our 68th Race Win for the current 2020/21 Racing Season.
Over the past 16 seasons that Dynamic Syndications have been racing horses, this number of 68 Wins matched our previous most successful season, that of the 2009/10 year.
Further, it recorded our 722nd Race Win from those 16 Seasons.
There has been 256 Individual Winners from 304 Individual Runners which is a massive 84.2%.
Plus, we have had a further 31 Individual Placegetters taking this tally to 287 from 304 = 94.4%.
At Dynamic Syndications, our budgeted target each year is to achieve 52 wins, so we average a Winner a Week for our Dynamic Owners.
Therefore, to match our previous record year, is a result our Team at Dynamic Syndications / Dean Watt Bloodstock are extremely proud of achieving, proving our yearling selections and their racetrack results makes us clearly Australia’s Market Leaders.
