On Friday at Randwick,
YAO DASH kicked off his preparation with a
soft trial win in quick time.
12 months ago, he lined up in the
Gr1 Golden Rose and far from being outclassed, he finished
1.5 lengths 4th to Bivouac, Yes Yes Yes and Exceedance.
Since then, he has run into a bit of trouble when injury caused his trainers Gai & Adrian to abort the preparation after just two starts.
After 24 weeks since he last went to the races,
YAO DASH was sent to the trials for an easy trial to warm back into competition and impressively, he didn’t disappoint his connections.
YAO DASH won Heat 10 ridden by Nash Rawiller.
The Dynamic Duo jumped in front and under a good hold and hands and heels held off a handy field to record an all the way one length victory over the short course 742m in the second fastest time of the morning of
43.79 coming home in a slick
33.34 secs which was also the second fastest sectional of the 12 Heats during the morning.
Only Heat 11 (Kittyhawk Flyer) recorded a ran faster time of
43.62 and
33.25 in a trial that was run in a competitive manner.
YAO DASH returning from a
setback last preparation was only sent out to have a pipe opener and clean up his wind and build some foundation fitness before he increases in trial distance at the next set of Randwick trials.
Its always exciting to get stakes class horses back into action and patience in allowing
YAO DASH the time to overcome his minor issue has seen him develop into a much stronger and more mature individual.
