Heat 1 over 1200m at Randwick on Friday morning was
chock full of Group 1 Stars but there was only one horse that came away with
big flashing lights on him and that was
Dynamic Syndications promising 3yo gelding YAO DASH trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott and today he was
ridden by Rachel King.

YAO DASH defeated Gr1 Winner HOMESMAN by 1 length, with 5¼ lengths back to BRIMHAM ROCKS winning in a quick time over 1200m of 1:11.26 on a Soft 6 track with a last 600m of 35.00.
HEAT 1 Randwick 27/3/20 - Winner YAO DASH
Never in danger in the trial, YAO DASH jumped quickly from the barriers going straight to the lead and was under threat from that point, leading the field throughout. The runner-up
HOMESMAN was ridden hard to stay in touch with
YAO DASH and
HOMESMAN was pushed out hard under full persuasion from Nash Rawiller when having a good hit out before its upcoming Doncaster Handicap assignment.
Third placed
BRIMHAM ROCKS finished infront of the chasing brigade but they were so far back that basically the trial was held in two distinct divisions.
YAO DASH - 6 March before his first up run for the prep - you can see how much he has tightened up since then
YAO DASH was back at the trials after a first up run over an unsuitable 1100m of the Fireball where he finished three lengths off the third placed horse in that event. However, a well-documented early virus when starting his preparation and then, a stone bruise to his off for hoof had the horse behind the eight ball in fitness and our horse is looking for 1400m to 1600m, so the 1100m dash was too sharp when he still had improvement in him.
However, the racing programme didn’t suit our horse after that run, with what we could aim him towards, so we identified his next assignment would be over 1400m on Day 2 of The Championships. That was 5 weeks – far too long between races, so we sent him around in this trial over 1200m to give him a clean-out heading into the 1400m assignment of the South Pacific Classic.
This was a trial full of class gallopers including:

He stripped a lot fitter into today’s trial and ran accordingly and this will have us fit, well and ready for his second up assignment should the racing gods allow racing to continue during these troubled times.
