ZOUSTAR beats SNITZEL and I AM INVINCIBLE to Champion 3YO Sire Crown.

One Australian sire title not won by either of the two big guns in Snitzel or I Am Invincible was that of Australian Champion Sire of 3YO's and that prestigious gong went to Widden Stud's ZOUSTAR, who has just finished serving his first Northern Hemisphere shuttle season at Tweenhills Stud in the UK.

ZOUSTAR who was Australia’s Champion First Season Sire the previous season, has gone on with the job and earned the title of Australia’s Champion Second Season Sire.

However its his brilliant efforts to have won the title of Australia’s Champion 3YO Sire against both the two (2) big guns and all other sires is simply remarkable.

Buoyed by the efforts of his tremendous filly Sunlight, a three-time Group 1 winner, ZOUSTAR produced 64 winners of $7.4 million and his five (5) stakes-winners of nine (9) stakes races.

ZOUSTAR has found himself in a very competitive group of Second Season sires that includes Spirit of Boom, Dundeel and Epaulette, however with just two crops racing and his cumulative earnings in excess of $10 million puts him clearly ahead of his peers.

ZOUSTAR stands this spring at Widden Stud at a service fee of $154,000 and he’s fully booked, following on from his biggest book so far last year of 243 mares.

In the years to come, buying a ZOUSTAR yearling will be near impossible as their prices will skyrocket in line with the increase in service fee, taking them out of reach of most buyers.
