Widden Stud’s champion sire ZOUSTAR is in overdrive through autumn, and he sired six (6) winners on Saturday including a Stakes Double with Olentia already a stakes winner, claiming further stakes success in winning the Group 2 ATC Emancipation Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill followed later in the day by Celsius Star, who claimed his first Black Type win in the $140,000 Harcourts Hills Railway Stakes Listed (1100m) at Oakbank in South Australia.
Celsius Star
Celsius Star is trained by Phillip Stokes and was ridden by Lachlan Neindorf, was sent out favourite for the feature sprint following wins at Gawler and Morphettville followed by a last start third in a Listed Race on Adelaide Cup Day.
He delivered for punters when charging through a gap with a well-timed run to snatch a half-length win.
Bred by Tara Farm and retained to race after passing in twice as a yearling, Celsius Star was foaled and raised at Grenville Stud and has the overall record of eight wins and six placings from 23 starts with prizemoney in excess of $324,000.
Celsius Star became the 52nd stakes-winner for ZOUSTAR and is his 14th in Australia this season.
Then on Easter Monday at Warwick Farm, Kandinsky Abstract the Zoustar colt who was the most expensive yearling in Australia in 2022 when he was sold by Widden Stud for $3million at Inglis Easter, posted his second win when successful at Warwick Farm.
The full brother to Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner and Champion 3YO Filly Sunlight, Kandinsky Abstract has been a work in progress at the Chris Waller stable winning his debut at Canterbury in May last year beating subsequent Group 1 ATC Randwick Guineas winner Celestial Legend.
A powerful colt with a muscular physique, he didn’t quite measure up to stakes class last spring when sent to Melbourne, so has been given an easier path to start off with this year.
With two recent trials under his belt, Kandinsky Abstract was sent off favourite for the 1200m Benchmark 72 event with James McDonald to ride and did his best work in the final furlong to poke his nose in front to win.
He will no doubt take good improvement from the win and confidence going forward.
Kandinsky Abstract was bred by Widden and is the seventh winner from eight to race from Group 3 winner Solar Charged, who is also the dam of 3-time Group 1 winner Sunlight, Group 3 winner Sisstar and stakes-placed Sheika and Dio.
Her current two-year-old is an unraced Zoustar filly called Clean Energy that was bought by Yulong for $2.6million at Magic Millions last year and has had one trial last November for a second placing and is in the Waterhouse Bott stable.
Widden Stud have had some massive sale ring results through selling yearlings from Solar Charged and will offer another Zoustar colt as Lot 304 at Inglis Easter this year.

With all our Team Dynamic yearling purchases, we like to give them 4-6 weeks to unwind and
get over that experience, allowing the high protein feed and
supplements that they have been fed to pass through their system, and
allow these young horses the opportunity to get back in touch with nature, roaming
freely and playing in the paddock with a mate of two before undertaking
the process of being taught to be a horse and to be ridden.
The work done here is as vital as the work leading into a Group 1 race.
Shortcuts, or poor horsemanship can be the difference between failure or success at this vital stage of a young horse’s ultimate career.
We are desperate to ensure they are given the best care and attention, and we believe this is our “ace in the pack” having the services of Australia’s Leading Horseman – Shane Rose.

STEP 3: FIRST RIDE: Responding from what she has been initially taught
now the process of a rider on her back and responding to commands of the rider.

From the start to completion depending upon the individual horse, it will take between 4 to 6 weeks to graduate “Kindergarten.” This is where they are taught to respond to touch and pressure, and work with a rider not against the rider, laying the foundations for success.
Bred by Gerry Harvey, he liked the filly to such an extent, he has purchased back a "leg" (25%), to race in co-ownership with our Dynamic Owners.
It was a “No Brainer” for Gerry when we purchased the filly and gave it to CIARON MAHER to train her.
After all, Ciaron is Australia’s Number 1 Trainer of Winners.
Obviously, our Leading VIP Dynamic Ownership Team Members agree, as they have jumped aboard to race such a well-bred filly with looks to match.
Type and Residual are regularly the most successful recipe.
That’s why we can proudly announce we have only 5% to go to complete her co-ownership team.
This can be offered in combinations of: 1 x 5% Share or alternatively 2 x 2.5% Shares.
A 5% Share is $16,930 and 2.5% Shares are $8,465.
