ZOUSTAR has stranglehold on 2nd Season Sires Premiership
ZOUSTAR has stranglehold on 2nd Season Sires Premiership

After claiming the
Australian First Season Sires Premiership
in 2017-18, boom young sire
ZOUSTAR
has a mathematical stranglehold on going back-to-back in claiming the
Second Season Sires Premiership for 2018-19.
ZOUSTAR
As at 15 June with 6 weeks of the 2018-19 Racing Season remaining
ZOUSTAR has led throughout
the season over his main rivals Spirit of Boom, Dundeel and Epaulette.
The Top 5 Second Crop Sires list is:
Sire Rnrs Wnrs Wins Rnrs/Wnrs Earnings
Zoustar (by Northern Meteor) 120 63 (6) 101 (10) 52.5 $7,035,830
Spirit of Boom (by Sequalo) 119 54 (4) 79 (5) 45.4 $5,029,255
Dundeel (by High Chaparral) 69 34 (4) 55 (7) 49.3 $3,986,325
Epaulette (by Commands) 90 50 (5) 70 (7) 55.6 $3,152,576
Shamus Award (by Snitzel) 72 33 (3) 61 (3) 45.8 $2,616,455
It’s no wonder off the deeds Zoustar has produced this season, that his Service Fee skyrocketed to be standing the upcoming 2019 Breeding Season at
$154,000
.
I
n his first two crops, Zoustar has now sired
15
Stakes Horses –
8
Stakes Winners and
7
Stakes Placed with
73
winners from 135 starters.
He has sired a Gr1 Winner, 2 Gr2 Winners, 2 Group 3 Winners and 3 Listed Winners with progeny earnings over $11 million.
He started his stud career at a
Service Fee of $44,000
for his first 4 seasons from 2014 – 2017 inclusive.
Then in 2018 his fee rose modestly to
$60,500
($55,000 + GST) on the back of the deeds of his first crop progeny.
Now in 2019, his fee rose to
$154,000
($140,000 + GST) a massive 254% increase.
Standing at the famed
WIDDEN STUD,
Zoustar spearheads their roster for the 2019 season.
The service fee increase for
Zoustar, Australia’s Champion first season sire in 2017-18,
comes after his three-year-olds dominated the Coolmore Stud Stakes (registered as Ascot Vale Stakes) (Gr 1, 1200m) in the 3yo Spring, with Sunlight leading home a trifecta for the young stallion.
SUNLIGHT
Sunlight has also since won the Newmarket Handicap (Gr 1, 1200m) and the William Reid Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) against the older sprinters to lay claim to being the Champion sprinter of the year and Champion 3yo.
Zoustar is the sire of eight (8) individual stakes winners,
including this season’s B J McLachlan Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) winning 2YO Sun City from two crops of racing age meanwhile, his yearlings sold up to $1 million and averaged $328,571 at this year’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
Widden’s Antony Thompson said:
“Zoustar is the most exciting young stallion in the world and that demand has extended to the Northern Hemisphere, where he is covering a full book of mares at Tweenhills Stud. To sire the 1-2-3 in a highly targeted Group One race like the Coolmore with his first crop, speaks volumes of this young stallion’s ability and future.”
“He’s also enjoyed a phenomenal year in the sales ring with multiple yearlings fetching $1m or more.”
“Given his strong shareholder support, nomination numbers were limited and his book is full for 2019.”
Overall with
3 crops
being sold as yearlings through the sales, Zoustar has had
266 yearlings
sell for an average
$210,765.
In 2019 he had 86 yearlings sell for an average $263,627.
His Top Priced Yearling sold at the Magic Millions, where a colt from the ex Dynamic Syndications racemare ACOUPLAMAS (pronounced: A-Couple-Of-Mars) reached
$1,075 million
. Whilst a colt from Madamesta sold at Inglis Easter for
$1 million
.
The Top Price Filly was from the mare Igraine selling for
$750,000
at the Magic Millions and a filly from Special Fragrance sold at Inglis Easter for
$650,000
.
In 2019 there were
39 Fillie
s sell for an average
$258,102
with
5 fillies
selling for
$500,000
or higher. The Fillies
Median Price was $160,000,
with
18 Fillies selling for up to $150,000
and
6 Fillies selling at $150,000
.
In essence, the prices for
Zoustar yearlings will explode as cost of production and ROI
will see the average price soar.
Dynamic Syndications were aware that a big increase in Service Fee was in the pipeline back in January at the Magic Millions and we set about targeting Zoustar yearling fillies as we believe the sire was going to become cost prohibitive to purchase in the coming years.
We are delighted with our decision.
We purchased two fabulous fillies by the sire – both out of Stakes Winning Gr1 Placed mares. We paid $150,000 + GST for each of them and as it unfolded, both were in consecutive lots, late on the Saturday evening 4th and final session of the Magic Millions.
ZOUSTAR x MOONFLUTE Filly with Gerry Harvey
The second purchase was Lot 828, a daughter of MOONFLUTE offered by Gerry Harvey’s Baramul Stud. Gerry purchased 25% back into the filly to race with us. We have already been to the market with this filly and she is
Sold Out
. She has been named
ZOUFLU
ZOUSTAR x MOON DE FRENCH Filly with Newgate Farm
The first purchase was Lot 827, a daughter of MOON DE FRENCH offered by NEWGATE FARM. They purchased 10% back into the filly to race her with Team Dynamic. We held this filly back from the market until recently and we are now offering her for sale.
We are
already 60% Sold
in her and the balance won’t last long.
The reason we targeted well-bred fillies by
Zoustar (Northern Meteor)
was that his daughters will make excellent outcross mares to all
Danehill line
sires, which will ensure excellent residual value when they eventually retire from racing.
With such high demand for off the track well-bred fillies, Owners will be rewarded with excellent residual values.
An example of this is three weeks ago at the Magic Millions Sales,
Dynamic Syndications purchased a 3YO filly by Zoustar named Task And Purpose
from the Stakes Winning & Magic Millions Runner-up
COMBAT KITTY.
The Filly is a winner of a race at Newcastle and had been placed in Sydney.
TASK AND PURPOSE by Zoustar
We paid $110,000 inc GST and syndicated her up as a Tried Racehorse within 24 hours
with the view of racing on with her and then offering her back through the sale ring next year where her residual value as a breeding prospect has already been established.
Both the yearling Fillies by Zoustar we purchased have stronger pedigrees than Task And Purpose.
You don’t buy shares in these well-bred fillies – you INVEST !
They offer the excitement of Racing Opportunity with the comfort of peace of mind about preservation of the capital investment.
Fillies like this are the closest opportunity to minimal risk racing available.
