The wraps on SHEROCKSMYWORLD from the Waterhouse stables were being spruiked from Pillar to Post as the horse being as good as Pierro and that it would win the next 2 Group 1 races in Brisbane.
So with some intrepidation, we took our unraced 2yo BLOWIN' YOUR MIND (Encosta De Lago ex Brown Eyed Girl by Sir Tristram) to the races for the experience and to learn racecraft as we go through the foundations of building a racing career that will see the horse best suited at 1600m.
Blowin' Your Mind - Awesome Debut
The Chris Waller stables had reported the horse had shown lots of promise but was still a little wayward and would benefit from the run both physically and mentally.
As the press hovered around connections of the favourite, our owners waited patiently for Hugh Bowman to have a chat and then watched as the horse went around to the barriers. He loaded quietly and stood as the rest of the field rolled in. As they jumped, he hit the ground running like "Zoom Top" at Wentworth Park. He was then restrained as the favourite went to the lead. As they straightened the favourite was in front, full of running with clean air whilst we were cluttered up back in the ruck.
When the favourite sprinted we were left flat footed and the horse was unsure what was expected. At the 150m Hugh pushed through a gap and at the 50m he let fly after the leader spotting it some 3 lengths.
In the last 50m Hugh drove BLOWIN' YOUR MIND at the leader and they hit the line together - Head Up - Head Down ! In what seemed like an eternity the horses were back milling around the return to scale gate waiting to see who had won. Each second that went past seemed to suggest it was a Dead Heat. Alas, the judge found a margin and gave the result to the favourite by an eyelash.
BLOWIN' YOUR MIND (Dynamic colurs in the centre) appears the winner here - However the winner Sherocksmyworld is behind him (obscured) with a flared nostril poking out to win.
The favourite's connections went into hype mode about how good their horse was to the press who were lapping it up.
We sat back with grins like split watermelons. We know how much upside is on our 1/2 brother to top flight racehorse HALIBERY. We wouldn't swap him for any other at this stage. He is a very promising 2yo who was purchased with the middle distance 3yo races in mind.
I hope the winning connections thoughts about their horse are accurate! We wish them all the best with their horse in the future because if the horse is as good as the hype then - Our owners could be having a lot of fun with BLOWIN' YOUR MIND on this exposed formline. Congratulation to the team that race our 2yo - You have a promising youngster: Dynamic Synd (D Watt), M McGrath, I Frykberg, Strabo Rcg (D Perry), Ridgeway Rcg (G Hill), Alltheway Rcg (G Hill), Dynamic Synd 21 (D Watt) & G Harvey
