Dynamic Syndications would like to congratulate trainer Darren Smith, jockey Blake Spriggs and the Team of Dynamic Owners that race Gallant Spur (4yo g Flying Spur / Gallant Miss).
Gallant Spur had put the writing on the wall that he was in fine order last start when rattling home from last at Hawkesbury to claim 3rd position in a strong 1400m.
Up to a more suitable distance at 1600m and ridden by Sydney apprentice Blake Spriggs, Gallant Spur gave his rivals a head start and a beating under the steadier of 60.5kgs. The runner up carried just 55.0 kgs. Gallant Spur won Race 6 The New England Country Living Magazine Class 1 Handicap 1600m.
Jumping away well he was immediately allowed to settle before pushing up on the fence to sit mid field with cover about 8 lengths off the pace. Blake had a lap full of horse at the 700m and did not wish to be caught up on the fence full of running, so steered off the fence to the outside as they packed up on the turn. A few wayward runners to his inside fanned wide, pushing the horse out past the centre of the track but Gallant Spur just cruised up to the leaders. At the 200m, Blake drove the horse to the lead and he responded well and allowed Blake to give him a soft hands and heels ride to the line under the big weight for the final 100m thus leaving plenty in the tank for his next start.
That recorded Gallant Spur's second race win having previously won over 1850m.
He appears a nice horse that will be better suited between 1800m - 2000m and looks to have a few wins in store in similar grade over the next few runs.
He is certainly one to Black Book as a horse to follow (but only on dry tracks!).
Congratulations goes to our owners:
