The Circles Of Gold syndicate has experienced some tremendous times through their racing and breeding exploits and the thrills of local and international racing due to Circles Of Gold's her star-studded progeny spearheaded by Elvstroem and Haradasun.
Circles Of Gold, the 1995 AJC Oaks winner, is a daughter of Marscay from the Zamazaan mare Olympic Aim, was bought by a group of McDonald's franchise owners - Frank Tagg, who took half, while Frank Meduri and Garry Moffitt bought quarter shares in the chestnut filly.
Circles of Gold went on to win six races and $936,835 in prizemoney, and whetted the appetite of her syndicate, who were super-keen to send her to stud due to her brilliant pedigree. This belief was spot-on and what has happened in the two decades since has been quite extraordinary. Her progeny have taken them on a journey to so many of the leading overseas venues.
Elvstroem performed admirably in Dubai, at York and Newbury in Britain and Longchamp and Saint Cloud in France, while Haradasun won the group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot. The pair also raced exceptionally on every main racetrack in search of group 1 glory in Sydney and Melbourne. Both champion performers have been retired to the breeding barns.
The guys, along with their respective wives are looking for further frequent-flyer points in the coming years with the syndicate having more than 25 mares in their ownership, several from the Circles of Gold family and two recent high-priced overseas additions which have made their way to the Hunter Valley.
''We have some very exciting plans scheduled and we will be getting right behind Haradasun, who we believe will become a major force in the Australian stallion ranks,'' Frank Tagg said. "It's Haradasun we are pinning the majority of our hopes with and couldn't be more thrilled with the Canterbury two-year-old trials last week with the performance of his daughter My Shabella.''
My Shabella, trained by Gerald Ryan, was responsible for a top trial win and will be one of the key hopes in the $100,000 Gimcrack Stakes at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
''Our syndicate has half a dozen Haradasun two-year-olds, including a colt named Jordan which is being spoken very highly about. He's had a couple of preps and appears he's well above average, and we're hoping to see him race in December,'' Tagg said. ''We also have five two-year-olds in pre-training in Melbourne.
The syndicate expanded its breeding operation with the purchase of two high-profile mares in the past six months. One mare Syria has already tested in foal to Haradasun.
Syria, is a half-sister to group 1 Dubai Gold Cup winner Moon Ballad.
Tagg also sent one of Circle of Gold's fillies, Hveger, by Danehill, to Ireland. She has already foaled a colt by Europe's most expensive stallion, Galileo and Hveger is back in foal to Galileo and will be mated with him again next year.
One of Hveger's progeny is the black-type mare Valdemoro, which has been covered by Choisir in the Hunter Valley recently. The end result will be a very close relation to Starspangledbanner.
While foundation mare Circles of Gold is about to foal a filly by High Chaparral and has a booking to Fastnet Rock. Whilst another of her daughters, Circles of Ice, also due to foal to High Chaparral and a likely return to the stallion.
This article above highlights the way the family continues to be bred upwards to leading sires and further highlights the significant opportunity for commercial returns from the pedigree.
Specifically this family has also been very good to Dynamic Syndications Managing Director Dean Watt. It was Dean who syndicated the first ever publicly syndicated yearling to win the World's Richest 2yo race the Golden Slipper when Polar Succes won the race in 2003. Whilst Dean also purchased the promising 3yo Dream Choice (By Redoute's Choice) the 1/2 brother to Polar Success and Dynamic have also been racing another 1/2 sister Scent of Joy.
Dynamic Syndications are extremely excited about our Haradasun Colt we are currently syndicating. From the Circles of Gold Family, our colt is from the Inglis Classic winning 2yo Commands Nothin'.
Therefore Haradasun features in our colts pedigree twice!
Both through the Sire and also, his 3rd dam is Polar Maid - she is a 1/2 sister to Olympic Aim - dam of Circles of Gold - dam of Haradasun!
