What a win by Dynamic Syndications owned SECRET DELIGHT who absolutely relished the wet to win very comfortably at Canterbury today.
After being absolutely luckless at Scone in her first start where she missed the kick and never got clear running, we were not about to knock her and knew that she was well above average.
With the heavy rain that engulfed Sydney last night, Dean and David spoke in-depth about whether to run this classy filly and the decision was made to run her as her father, ENCOSTA DE LAGO handled all conditions.
Secret Delight braved the wet conditions to win in emphatic style
This decision paid healthy dividends and she was ridden a treat by apprentice jockey, Chad Schofield who managed to get to the lead from barrier one and made every post a winner.
The daughter of DIVINE SECRET has always shown plenty in work winning 2 trials in impressive fashion before making her debut at Scone and subsequently winning at Canterbury today.
Secret Delight saluted today in impressive style
Schofield was desperate to retain the ride simply claiming that the horse would go out and win next start if she had any sort of luck.
He wasn’t wrong and Chad repaid Dynamic Syndications for letting him retain the ride by winning and winning well.
Despite being plenty of other horses supported in the race, she proved she was way too good and overpowered her rivals who were more fancied in the betting.
Chad followed ever order brilliantly giving her a perfect front running ride and the tactics that were discussed pre-race worked a treat.
After jumping well, Chad mustered some speed to keep the inside running and go straight to the lead where she looked very comfortable.
This filly looked superb in otherwise atrocious conditions and by the time she had rounded the turn she had gapped her opposition and was leading by 4 lengths.
She never looked challenged in the straight and despite what the race caller said, Chad was able to completely ease up on her over the final 100 metres with some left in the tank.
Secret Delight never looked challenged to win by officially by 1 1/4 lengths.
It was a very dominant performance from an extremely tough and speedy filly who obviously handles all conditions really well.
A big congratulations should go to all the owners of SECRET DELIGHT on their first win and we are hopeful to see her continue on in the future.
Congratulations to the winning owners: Dynamic Syndications Racing Synd, N Arnold, M Faria, N Fraser, J Keeley, N Loader, G Rassos, F Welk & Dynamic No 25 Synd
The plan is to wait for the next 48 – 72 hours and see how she pulls up before making any decision on where she will go.
Secret Delight relished the wet conditions and looks to be well above average
At this stage, we will look to either give her one more run before spelling or alternatively send her straight to the paddock with the vision of setting her for some good races in the spring.
Stakes success may only be just around the corner with this lovely filly and David has a big opinion of her.
A big thank you should also go to Michael Kirwan and team Coolmore who recommended this filly as one of their top lots at the 2011 Magic Millions Sales on the Gold Coast. A job well done by all!
