MICK PRICE Career:

In 2003 Mick trained the trifecta in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Preview with Halibery, Gaelic Princess and Roedean, while World Peace took out the race for the stable in 2004.

Mick kept his fantastic record with two-year-olds intact by winning both the colts and fillies divisions of the Blue Diamond Preludes in 2005 with both Perfectly Ready and Doubting.

In 2007 he continued his stakes winning trend by taking out the Group 1 Underwood Stakes with Rubiscent, the Group 2 Sandown Guineas with Schilling and the Group 3 Sandown Stakes with Gotta Have Heart, just to name a few.

In 2008/2009 Season was highly successful with Light Fantastic winning the Group 2 JJ Liston Stakes. The Sth Yarra Stakes Group 3 was won by Vivacious Spirit. Group 1 New Zealander Alamosa won the Group 1 Toorak Hcp and Damselfly won the Group 3 Thoroughbred Club.

In total, Mick won six Group 1 races, five Group 2 events, five Group 3 events and six Listed races for the season among his massive total of 124 winners for the racing year.

In the 2009/2010 Mick trained his 16th Group 1 winner with Velocitea taking out the Goodwood.

Mick currently has an outstanding stable of horses headlined by dual Group 1 winner Samaready and other high profile gallopers Pakal, Lion of Belfort and Lankan Rupee.

Mick Price has consistently trained over 100 winners per season in the last six years and his strike rate is second to none.

The 2010/11 racing season continued to see Mick Price go from strength to strength. Mick Price Racing was 3rd in the 2010/11 VIC Trainers Premiership. Another highly successful racing year for the Mick Price Racing Stables and on paper it was a year chock full of tremendous results including $4,701,000 in prizemoney, third position in the Victorian Metropolitan Trainer’s Premiership (whilst the Peter Moody stables Juggernaut rolled on, Mick Price was only 2.5 wins behind runner-up Mark Kavanagh), Third position in the Victoria Country Trainer’s Premiership and 7th position in the Overall Australian Trainer’s Premiership with a Winning Strike Rate of 19.4% including 120 race wins and 169 placed.

By Mick Price’s own lofty standards of racing excellence, he believes that despite the impressive record he say’s that he was disappointed by the results. Had a few close photo finishes gone Mick’s way, he would have been a clear second position. "Oh well that’s racing but it would have been so much better for our owners and the team had we had a fairer share of racing luck."

Adelaide has always been a happy hunting ground for the Mick Price Racing Stables and again it proved to be the case in 2010/11 as they plunder the respectable prize money and dry tracks. "We won 12 races from 33 runners in Adelaide this season so the strike rate of 36% is good." Price said. "I would like to thank every owner who has contributed there hard earned and assure you that we will be trying to improve on our results. We have good staff who love their horses and work hard all year round. We need the 2011/12 racing season to be successful again for all concerned and we will be doing our utmost here at Caulfield to continue to improve." Mick Price 1 August 2011.

In the 2012-13 Season Mick was in the top 10 trainers in the country winning 135.5 races Australia wide at an incredible strikerate of 17.2%

For the 2013-14 Season Mick finished 4th on the Victorian Metro premiership and trained 115 winners across the country at a superb strike rate of 16%. He won over $8.3 million in Prizemoney for the 2013-14 season.

Season 2014-15 saw Mick train over 100 winners once again and maintained an impressive winning strike rate of 14.16%. Mick recorded 102 winner and over 5.7 million in prizemoney for the season.

Big results were to come though when Mick celebrated his 20th Group1 success with Lankan Rupee winning the Oakleigh Plate prior to demolishing a high quality field in the Group 1 Newmarket Hcp.

Season 2015/16 the stable was flying and Mick's trained 97 winners placing him 4th in the Melbourne Premiership.

Season 2016/17 was another milestone with the stable training 105 winners

Season 2017/18 is heading in the same direction with already 82 winners including 8 Stakes Winners

FACILITIES

Mick has 70 boxes located at Caulfield racecourse in Melbourne with a variety of stables and yards that can cater for any individual horse's needs.

Caulfield has five different surfaces for horses to work on including turf, synthetic and sand tracks, a safe swimming pool and two tracks for trot and canter work. We have a modern 8 horse truck, access to a therapeutic water treadmill and less injuries due to good, safe facilities.

The stables have a comprehensive network of pre-trainers available, utilising the state of the art facilities throughout Victoria, as well as various beach and water walker facilities.

As well as the stable environment, horses can be freshened throughout their preparation by spending time at Mick's farm in Lysterfield, just 30 minutes east of Melbourne.
