Leading Breeder Jonathan Munz celebrates Group 1 Double at Randwick

Jonathan Munz is one of Australia’s Leading thoroughbred breeders, and his breeding operation GSA Bloodstock celebrated a wonderful Group 1 Double on Saturday at Randwick when he was the breeder of Gr1 Champagne Stakes 2yo Militarize and the next race he followed that success as the owner-breeder of All-Aged S. G1 winner Giga Kick. Militarize was offered for sale by Bhima Thoroughbreds at Magic Millions and was purchased by Newgate Bloodstock, China Horse Club & Trilogy Racing for $550,000. Militarize completes Arrowfield Clean Sweep of Sydney Gr1 2YO Races

Dundeel’s outstanding son Militarize sealed the treble of Sydney 2YO Gr1 Races for Arrowfield Stud’s stallions when he scored a decisive 1.7 length victory in Saturday’s $600,000 Champagne S. 1600m Gr1 at Randwick. Third placegetter Townsend (by Dundeel) emphasised the major Group 1 result for the sire. Then to add to Dundeel’s haul on the day, the sire added his 24th stakes winner, when 3YO Bengal Boy, was successful in the 2400m Galilee Final LR at Sandown.

World Champion racehorse JUSTIFY has an unassailable lead on the Australian FIRST SEASON Sires list and he posted yet another impressive debut winner at Cranbourne on Friday night when Legacies (2f Justify x Abyssinie, by Danehill Dancer) opened her account. Trained by Peter Moody, Legacies was well fancied in the 1200 juvenile fillies maiden and scored a dominant length and a quarter win. The sale Averaged $390,000 and the Median was $280,000.
