The hours and hours of pedigree work, then multiple saleyard inspections, shortlisting, culling, then the re-inspections and further culling. The week prior it’s been a hard slog, seven days pounding the pavement and then, concluding a final list to be examined by our veterinarian to weed out X-ray issues (many yearlings are rejected here) and poor endoscopic profiles which hinder windflow. We are left with the list of what in our opinion is the “Best of the Best” on type and budget.
