Progressive American Pharoah (USA) colt Mackinnon made it back-to-back stakes wins when taking out the $200,000 Zuma Beach Stakes (1m) at Santa Anita on Sunday. A last start winner of the $102,000 Del Mar Juvenile Turf Stakes (1m), the colt proved much the best in cruising home to win by more than two lengths, his overall record now three wins and a second from five starts.

At Muswellbrook on Monday, Dynamic Syndications 4yo mare ZOU DE MOON (Zoustar x Moon De French) resumed from a spell over 1280m, in a Class 2 event. After her recent spell, ZOU DE MOON was transferred to the stables of trainer Jason Deamer at Newcastle and our mare was presented at her first start back to the track, looking a million dollars and raced accordingly, to claim Race 6, the RAP Surveying Class 2 1280m Handicap on a Soft 5 surface. ZOU DE MOON showed her class with a determined win that took her career record to 4 starts: 2-1-0 and $40,405

Dynamic Syndications produced an exciting 2yo Colt on Saturday in the time-honoured Breeders Plate Gr3 1000m for the Colts and Geldings and there were 3 colts in the race that had “flashing lights” on them as horses to follow. They were: the winner Sejardan , along with our colt HARD TO SAY (Exceed And Excel) who was desperately unlucky in the straight to run 4th just 0.11 from 3rd place, whilst Calico Jack (Merchant Navy) finished strongly after getting too far out of its ground early. The Breeders Plate was won by Sejardan who defeated Zambezi River by 1.18 lengths with third going to Emperor 1.79 lengths and Hard To Say in fourth 1.9 lengths.

Fastnet Rock’s exciting young sire son Merchant Navy had two runners in the time honoured first Australian juvenile stakes races of the season at Randwick on Saturday with both horses acquitting themselves well with DRISANA earning valuable Black Type with a gallant second placing in the Gimcrack whilst CALICO JACK was unlucky when 6th but had the the second best last 600m of the race in the Breeders Plate.

Making an early breakfast for husband Rob and then a round of phone calls, Facetimes or Zoom’s from 3am to either Bott, or respective stable foremen and the Melbourne team.
